I know everyone who didn't rate the signings want to close for business on it and be right but its still only been 4 months into multiple 5 year contracts like.

Ramsey will be quality for us. As is Woltemade and he’ll only get better. Thiaw is class. I’m not convinced we’ll see close to the value we paid for either Wissa or Elanga, and the latter is particularly gruelling as we’d needed to replace that position for about eight transfer windows on the run

Plenty of people had concern over the summer. Repeatedly they were told "how many has Howe got wrong"

I've never seen value in much of our summer signings to be honest - £45M for a Willock crock is absolutely mental especially when he's been out of form for a good 2 years

Ah well

Majority of Villa fans were disappointed he was leaving and pissed off at the PSR rules for forcing them to sell.

That's usually a good sign.

This js definitely true.

was surprised we got so much for him, though, tbh. Although as I said the other day, he’s a quality player.

I won’t complain if you buy him back at a discount.

Was the disappointment not mainly due to him being home grown though? I had a good read through Villa Talk when he left and the consensus seemed to be that he'd struggled to refind his form from 22/23 and he typically looked poor whenever he played under Emery, particularly in midfield.

This matched what I saw in your games over the last couple of seasons too. The only time I'd seen him play well for you was off the left wing.

Agreed on Wissa.

We really need at least 2 seasons of 20+ goals in all comps in the next 4 years. He'll then be 33 and have no real resale value otherwise, and be on the decline.

that’s what he does best - he was inportant for us because he carried the ball

up the pitch, and was particularly useful cutting in from the left.

You’re right, he was seen more kindly for being ‘one of us’ but that’s nothing like enough to explain why we liked him.

He was a very decent player for us, but one with awful injury luck, and not worth 40m (being totally honest).

Feels like Ramsey’s weirdly become a bit of a scapegoat recently. He’s not lit things up, but he’s done his job, keeps the ball moving, doesn’t hide, etc. That’s not “shit,” that’s a player settling in. Fair to want more, but writing him off already is well over the top. There’s more to come from him imo.

Zero output for 40m from your advanced midfielder isnt good.

Why pelters?

I think everyone would admit he's been quality and looks to have the lot in his game

But they'd never sell to us so it's not really a realistic suggestion

They did unbelievably well to get him for only around £10m

Don't rate him from what I've seen so far, but he's still a useful squad player. Hopefully there's better to come. I thought he'd be more of a goal threat when we were first in for him.

4 players on that list man, that has to tell us something about why performances and results have been so mixed? That the ball is being passed accurately to our front 3 but it never sticks?

The relevance of accuracy as a statistic really depends on other factors as well though. You're far more likely to be accurate if you're rarely playing progressive passes, or only playing them when it's a relatively safe option.
